Dia daoibh!
Well, Halloween is officially over, the pumpkins are looking slightly defeated, and somewhere in Ireland there is a parent quietly removing the good chocolate from a trick or treat bag in the name of “quality control.” It is an important public service.
And with the Halloween madness behind us, it is time for the October Card Chain Challenge!
This month, I received a lovely card from Alice in Austria, while my own creation packed its spooky little suitcase and headed off to Brenda in the UK. Another month, another card with a considerably more exciting travel itinerary than mine.
For my card, I decided to go properly spooky and made the fabulous 5x7 3D Halloween Bouquet designed by Lori Whitlock. It is a brilliant little haunted house bursting with pumpkins, flowers, foliage, a ghost and all manner of Halloween mischief. Best of all, the boo-quet folds down for posting, which feels suspiciously like witchcraft but is actually very clever papercraft!
I cut all the pieces on my Silhouette using a mixture of cardstock, glitter card and Tonic Studios cardstock. Then came the assembly, which is always the interesting bit when your desk contains tiny pieces of paper and one of them has mysteriously vanished. Once everything was safely where it belonged, I added glossy accents, glitter and a few gems for a little extra sparkle.... because apparently even ghosts and pumpkins deserve a bit of bling.
And that is October’s Card Chain Challenge done and dusted. The costumes are packed away, the pumpkins have done their duty, and any remaining Halloween chocolate has now legally become crafter’s supplies. I am fairly certain that is written down somewhere.
A slightly belated Oíche Shamhna Shona Daoibh! 🎃👻
